Hey Guys, I hope you’re having a good day…keep trucking along, we’re about ½ way through!

When I was looking at my verse of the day app for today I saw 1 Peter 1:22, but when I went to read through 1 Peter 1 to understand the context of the verse, I came across soooooo much more. So today’s verse set is 1 Peter 1:13-16. This is an AWESOME encouragement for our walk.

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:13-16 NLT

There are 3 points I see here

  1. Prepare your minds for action – We need to make sure that we are prepared to take a stand for Christ, and for what is right. We need to live life contrary to what this world says is right. Now anyone going into battle is going to prepare in many different ways and we should too! It’s not always going to be easy but we can prepare ourselves by being in the Word and living consistently in prayer.
  2. Exercise self-control – This is a challenging one for me. In some areas of my life I seem to have HUGE amounts of self-control, in other area’s I crumble like a little baby (yes I know you’ve seen me do this…scary). We need to trust in the Lord and ask for his help in improving our self-control in ALL area’s of our lives so that we can Honor God in EVERY aspect.
  3. Live obedient to God, as Holy children – We should be careful not to fall back into our old ways but we should live in a way that honors God in all of our words and actions. We must live Holy because God is Holy. Of course this is easier said than done, so the perfect place to start is to be in consistent prayer with our Lord.
