The Refuge…Great are you Lord

Hey guys,

My heart has been hurting for our friends in the hospital today. They’re such an amazing couple, so incredibly brave, such strong faith in the Lord, yet they both find themselves in a dire situation with their health at risk.

Going into the hospital for the surgery to remove cancerous parts of his lung, and then for her to have a stroke at the same time (Praise God she was already at the hospital), and now, they’re two doors apart in the ICU, unable to see each other, unable to comfort each other through this time. Although, I know that the only thing they’re both focused on is the well being of each other.

I know they trust in the Lord, I know that He is watching over them, yet I can’t help but be heartbroken at their situation. Sometimes it’s hard to see God working in a situation like this, yet we know that He is active, powerful, and mighty even in a situation that seems hopeless on the surface.

God knows the beginning from the end, He knows every hair on our head, He knows every tear in our eyes, every hurt in our heart, and ultimately God’s purpose is so much greater than our vision. We need to pour our heart out before Him, and rely on Him as our refuge when we don’t know what is going on, and we don’t know where to turn.

Check out Psalm 62:7-8:

In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

God is our refuge, even when we don’t understand what is going on. There is a song that has been on my heart a lot lately, it’s called Great are You Lord. The words are so very simple, and hold so much truth. I want to encourage you to listen to the song, read the lyrics, and think about Psalms 62 as you listen. Take just a few minutes, eliminate the distractions around you, and focus on the Lord as you listen to the words of this song, and remember, no matter what our situation, Great is the Lord.

Verse

You give life, You are love

You bring light to the darkness

You give hope, You restore

Every heart that is broken

Great are You, Lord

Chorus

It’s Your breath in our lungs

So we pour out our praise

We pour out our praise

It’s Your breath in our lungs

So we pour out our praise to You only

Bridge

All the earth will shout Your praise

Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing

Great are You, Lord

I Love you guys!! God is our strength!
